Alicia Sometimes

Alicia Sometimes is an Australian writer and broadcaster. She has performed her spoken word and poetry at many venues, festivals and events around the world. Her poems have been in Best Australian Science Writing, Best Australian Poems, Overland, Southerly, Meanjin, ABC TV’s Sunday Arts and more. She is one-sixth of the Outer Sanctum podcast (ABC). She is director and co-writer of the science-poetry planetarium shows, Elemental and Particle/Wave. Alicia is currently a Science Gallery Melbourne ‘Leonardo’ (creative advisor) and is passionate about combining science and art together.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
