Berkay Mete

Born in Cappadocia, Turkey, Berkay Mete is a DJ and producer hailing from the city of one of the most recently stirring scenes: Istanbul and has been putting on various electronic music nights in Melbourne as well.

He practiced his skills by playing at almost every club in his favorite town and many places in Europe and Australia. Berkay is passionate about sharing the sounds inspired by his exposure to traditional instruments and music during his upbringing,

He mixes Anatolian and Middle Eastern flavours with his own gentle touch in electronic music. But anything can be expected from his sets due to his wide-ranging background and knowledge in music. His ability of reading the crowd and mixing skills are top of the range. Berkay’s most recent club night is called Klub Kulampara. It’s the Melbourne outlet of Istanbul’s Mete: A Celebration of transcendental electronic grooves from Anatolia and beyond.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
