Chris Connell

Chris Connell is an icon of Australian design—his practice, Chris Connell Design, has been celebrated near and far for almost thirty years, known for its innovation and dedication to local creativity and craft. Chris’s achievements include his Pepe chair designed in 1992, now in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Chris has also designed the specially commissioned ‘MP Stool’ for use during our season of free events—you can drop into MPavilion any day and see the elegant stools inspired by Glenn Murcutt’s pavilion and manufactured in Melbourne in collaboration with grazia&co.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
