Dr Hannah Bertram

Hannah Bertram is a visual artist and teacher. Her practice investigates the material, behavioural and poetic possibilities of dust through temporary, decorative installations, performance and drawing. She is a co-founder of the 24 Hour Drawing Project—an endurance drawing workshop in which participants start and finish a project in twenty-four hrs. As a university lecturer she has taught traditional and contemporary drawing, painting and installation for nine years. Her practice and teaching have overlapped during multiple residencies at universities, museums and galleries throughout Australia, the United States and Europe where students and artists work with her on ambitious installations.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
