Janet Bolitho

Janet Bolitho is deeply engaged with the changing places of the lower Yarra: the Port, Port Melbourne, Docklands and Fishermans Bend. Always exploring – by bike, on foot and in the archives – she delves into the history, present and future these places. She shares her observations on her website Port Places. She also leads walking explorations through Port places. Currently a member of the Fishermans Bend Development Board, she is a former councillor and mayor of the City of Port Phillip. She is on the Boards of Westgate Biodiversity: Bili Nursery & Landcare and the Yarra Riverkeeper Association.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
