Rachel Iampolski

Rachel Iampolski is an emerging producer and place-maker, and an experienced arts and events administrator working across different festivals, independent art and university. Most recently, Rachel is the founder and director of Public Street, a cross-disciplinary, collaborative platform that – through events, public art and publication – engages with, and aims to subvert how we conceptualise public space. Both in terms of who is involved in the dialogue and the method. She is current PhD candidate at RMIT in the Centre for Urban Research, exploring intangible cultural heritage of re-purposed public space, and its implication on urban cultural policy.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
