South of the City x Stargazed Records

Stargazed Records and South of the City present SOURCE as part of Melbourne Music Week and the MPavilion 2019 program.

SOURCE is an array of sensory performances including music, projections and dance. Set at MPavilion, an ongoing showcase of architecture in the Queen Victoria Gardens, SOURCE has been curated to respond to the design of the building – to rest on the landscape, rather than occupy it. By removing the rigid infrastructure that so often defines Melbourne’s performances spaces, SOURCE creates a space to comprehend and appreciate the raw beauty of nature, and the people who create within it.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
