In this kids’ workshop, run by local artist, designer and illustration teacher Alice Oehr, look to your friends, family—and others around you—to engage with portraiture! Under the shade of the MPavilion, alongside Alice, you’ll explore the genre and gain insight into its tradition, all while making your own artwork. Of course, you can create a portrait of anybody you like—it’s your call, and you’ll be encouraged to experiment.

Drop in, let the ambience of the gardens relax your illustration hand, and celebrate your nearest and dearest by bringing them to life on a canvas!

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
