Pack a picnic and join us on the Opening Weekend of MPavilion 2019 for a special string quartet performance presented by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Joining us in the gardens will be two MSO permanent musicians and two intern musicians from Indonesia who have just finished a week of intensive rehearsal. The program will feature selections from the great quartets of Haydn, Rossini, Schoenberg, Borodin and Tchaikovsky.

The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is a leading cultural figure in the Australian arts landscape, bringing the best in orchestral music and passionate performance to a diverse audience across Victoria, the nation and around the world.

Wominjeka (Welcome). We acknowledge the Yaluk-ut Weelam as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet. Yaluk-ut Weelam means ‘people of the river camp’ and is connected with the coastal land at the head of Port Phillip Bay, extending from the Werribee River to Mordialloc. The Yaluk-ut Weelam are part of the Boon Wurrung, one of the five major language groups of the greater Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the land, their ancestors and their elders—past, present and to the future.
