Set the Tone is an online talk show conceived by Adier Maluk, Angeth Malual, Adior Deng and Yar Biar, young Australian women of South Sudanese descent driven to create a platform that speaks to them and their peers. With a pilot episode on the topic of colourism in the bag, the project is fast gathering speed and attention.
The show is about shifting up the conversation, opening up points of view and challenging the status quo. It’s is about creating a platform for young women from the African diaspora to deep dive into the issues that matter to them and challenge assumptions from both within and outside their communities.
At this exciting event, following a screening of Set the Tone, the young women behind the show will join their directing mentor Dorcas Maphakela and other special guests to discuss the process behind the show and ideas for future episodes and world media domination.
This event is supported by RACV.
