Get creative with this fun life drawing workshop led by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra! MSO musicians will be performing live at MPavilion. Using the MSO’s nimble musicians as your subjects, you’ll be guided through the basics of life drawing, with all materials supplied.
Hear a selection of music performed by members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for string quartet by Mozart, Ravel and Sculthorpe as well as examples solo and duo music. A series of drawing techniques will be explained that directly respond to each musical piece. By listening to the sounds played and observing the physical movements of the musicians we investigate: how sound translates into color, how the tempo of the music can be mirrored in pace of drawing, how understanding the stillness, movement, tension, softness and weight in the musicians bodies and in relation to their instruments can be conveyed in your drawings.
There will be materials for 40 people (first come, first serve basis). Feel free to bring your own drawing materials if you have them.
