Guerrilla gardening. Housing equality activism. Mural art. Join a workshop and panel discussion to explore the various forms of subtle urban subversion being performed by young people in and around Melbourne.
The panel will feature a number of people engaging in different forms of creative urban subversion. They’ll discuss their practice, how they have negotiated boundaries, and share advice with you, the audience. Immediately following this will be a hands-on workshop in which you’ll be invited to work together to consider subversive and creative solutions to current issues such as gender-based safety or community cohesion.
This event is facilitated by Rachel Iampolski, Phd candidate at RMIT with research into intangible cultural heritage in urban spaces, and University of Melbourne design anthropology student Zane Pinyon. It is part of our youth expressions of interest, engaging collaborators aged 15–25.
